Your child comes to you crying. “What’s wrong, honey?”, you ask, worried. The reply is much worse than you could imagine: “Someone made me send a naked picture of myself and now I feel really bad about it.”
You immediately visualize a disgusting grown man looking at your kids picture and doing… well, you know what. While that is a horrific thought, your kid may have completely different worries.
What could be a lot worse for your kid is that the picture ends up in the hands of someone in her school. Imagine how your child would feel if a classmate tricked her to send the picture and showed it to everybody in the class. Or even worse: Post it on your kid’s social media accounts. Yikes!
Be happy that you found out
Be it the creep or the bully who has the picture – the whole scenario is very unfortunate. One thing in this whole imagined scenario was positive, though, and that’s the fact that your kid told you what had happened.
Surely the kid needs the grown-up to stay calm and focused. Find out all the info you need to track down the image. Once you know where it has been posted, try contacting the administrators of the site to get it removed.
If the picture ended up in the hands of someone you know, a phone call to the parents might be a good idea.
What would you reply if your kid actually came to you with this?
